(Your pan was probably too hot. When you have one side that just looks like a bunch of bubbles, that's the problem IIRC. Try turning the heat down a notch or two next time you cook them.)

Women have an issue with setting something on the heat and then going to check their phone for ten minutes until the burning smell comes around, watching something for more than 30 seconds without some other stimulus to distract you is inconceivable.
