I saw a lot of this trend recently on twitter. I just wanted to say that i think it might be the worse trend of 2024 so far. A shit song. A shit and chunky dance. It ruins my mood whenever i see it on my feed. I want the guy that created this animation to relive his death over and over for the next 2000 years.

When Pippa and Mi-chan came to Japan, I invited them to go to the Poop Museum, and we all went together. It was so cute seeing everyone walking down the street with poop headbands on 😌💭
We got a lot of looks from everyone around us though...💩

IRyS also said a sololive probably won't happen. Wtf is Cover's expectations on who gets them nowadays, anyway?
From what Lamy and iirc Kiara have said before, I thought the priorities were ability to fill a venue and number of original songs, but there's clearly some other factors. Pekora only had 3 or 4 originals when her solo live was announced and Subaru could easily fill a mid-sized venue like what Towa and Watame did. I don't know what's stopping Cover from giving the okay but I hope they get it sorted. This is a dream both her and the fans have had for a long time now.

Also she's not streaming today but german green thing love

If I have to take a stab at it, they are given based on album sales. Below is album sale uptil March 13th

Note:
- You can see the cut off at getting a sololive is SorAZ recently getting one on January this year. Literally everyone from 1-12 was given a SPWN concert, I dont remember any other member getting a sololive, except a few exceptions below:
- Marine who is supposedly hololive most popular musical member, youtube videos/streaming wise. Never had a sololive because she didnt make this list. She probs could have if she makes and try to sell an album, but she'd rather throw more money at MVs.
- Pekora was a special case because they were very confident they can sell out a Pekora concert. The album went on sale after her sololive. I dont think mio is getting one with similar sales.
- aqua got her own sololive but she likely paid it out of pocket since she hired a 3rd party 3d studio that isn't Hololive.
- 5th gen isn't up here but Blue Clapper end up being Holo's no.4 most ever sold single and Nenenenene somehow is around top 10 as well, so Holo was confident in giving them a live concert. @Nenélove's oshi is hard carrying the gen when it comes to music.
- Kiara/Irys/Baelz album sold so shit in Japan Hololive doesn't want to take a gamble for a sololive with big venue in Japan. If there are going to be a sololive for them, it's gonna need to be held outside of Japan. It's a gamble they don't want to make as of now. I think Hololive is simply being far too cautious with EN, breaking dimension is held in a 3000 seats venue, for whatever reason their estimation at how much ticket they can sell in the kaigai world is really timid. NijisanjiEN not being able to sell 10% of the seats of a small convention might have even worsened their confidence.
- While oricon doesn't count kaigai sales, the western world has largely moved on from buying albums and stream shit on spotify instead so I don't expect much increase for Irys/Baelz, except for Mori who topped many kaigai album charts.

Most MMD stuff is garbage but this trend is lazy even for MMD standards.

My pet rrat is that Cover have some sort of internal bidding system that makes it so that not every talent thinks it's worth the risk of taking a financial hit. That or all concerts need a sponsor or something equally ridiculous.

Hololive is an idol company. Please understand.

Schrodinger's idol company. It's somehow both sanitized and boring idol corpo slop but also degenerate weeabo pedobait, whatever benefits the narrative I suppose :Vesper-UNHINGED:

Unrelated: I didn't realize how much of a monster kanae and kuzuha are, they easily lapped suisei in sales.
Why are you comparing digital-only sales to ones with physical releases lol? It literally says in your source that it is JAPAN sales only, thus partial sales numbers, as well. Where do you think most of these sales are for the overseas talents?

(Notice the insane difference between physical and digital sales?)

This also doesn't account for all the people listening on streaming services who don't need to buy the digital versions. And sales number for holostore exclusive physical releases.

Bae even said before that she was told Pandaemonium did incredibly well, according to management. If we are talking about who can fill a room of people and sell digital sales, I very much doubt there is anyone in JP or EN who couldn't pull that off.

If you have anyway to track oversea sales please kindly provide them.
There is a chance management from Jap doesn't even know what streaming is and went "ah you earned 2$ on spotify this mean it sold badly right?" :smugina: not knowing that 2$ equalled to 1 million streams, or whatever spotify rate is. Streaming music is still a very foreign concept to the Jap who still prefer owning and playing physical albums. :ponrys:
I just think this is what Hololive looked at when they told Irys & Kiara "nah sod off" constantly throughout the years. You & I doubt they can't sell out a room, Holo Management doesn't care if they can or not. They look at album sales. Marine not having a sololive is a clear indicator of how important they value album sale in selecting who gets to do sololive.

Edit: I numberfagged again, Pandemonium you said streamed really well hit 5.5 million streams total on spotify, using conversion rate from this reddit thread of $0.0023 per stream (best case scenario is 0.0028 worst is 0.002 for 2 million streams and it seems the rate goes down the higher stream count is, but for easy sake I chose 0.023 in the middle), it equals to around $12653, which would be around 632 physical sale if taken a rate of 20 $/CD. Someone high up at holo might really have looked at the numbers and think the album only sold 632 copies.
