I wonder what incorrect conclusion they're going to draw up from this.

Probably something equally as retarded as Yoshi P's statements about FF16 and turn based combat.

Why is it doing low? I thought people were big on FF7. Could it be the model of them making it into 3 games? People rather wait for all 3 before playing?

Famitsu physical software sales in Japan got posted a few days ago for March 19th-March 24th.

FF7 Rebirth dropped to 8th place and has only sold 305k so far, while FF16 sold 336k in its first week. The weekly sales dropped another 38% this week from 11,497 sales last week to 7,121 sales this week. If sales continue to slow down, FF7 Rebirth might not even be able to break 336k over 2 months. This is a disaster, their trilogy plan is going up in smoke.
Coming out of Remake I was worried they were being too mysterious and self indulgent for their own sakes to allow less dedicated fans to keep up, and Rebirth hasn't done much to reassure me. The game is massively bloated with minigames and side content in every region to pad playtime, the majority of which desperately needs ripped out just for the sake of player fatigue, but if they do that it would expose just how little actual storyline progression there is. They can spend a massive amount of screentime fleshing out the Gi into a square peg for the established history of FF7, but sure whatever it gives Red 13 more personality. Then you meet Vincent and he's a glorified cameo character even though they canonised the spinoff lore and you would think Vincent would be a big deal who should be deeply involved in the new threat to the Planet narrative they've been writing.
And speaking of the Time Jannies, we're 2 games in now and they've still yet to actually add anything of worth to the games themselves. What's going on has been properly explained now so I get there's split timelines running concurrently and in competition, but while that's interesting in theory and to think about, my opinion actually playing through the games has still been that they're just random interruptions of psuedo-deep nonsense that I'm forced to sit through before I can get back to the actually good content (the original plotline + the new characterisation scenes and interactions with the cast). We're what should be 2/3rds of the way through and the metaplot of the game has only just finished setting up the stakes, it'll only become engaging in the third game and I'm honestly doubting Square's ability to pull off a satisfying conclusion based on what I've seen so far of this part of the game.
Which is a problem because it'll have to be perfect otherwise people will be asking themselves why the fuck they bothered in the first place. Did Final Fantasy 7 - one of the most important videogames of all time - really need to fuck around exploring a multiverse? Or could all of that dev time instead have been spent refining the original plot and putting in more of the character scenes literally everyone loves?
The game's good and all but I've been sniffing around different communities for opinions and even in forced hugboxes like Reddit reception has been cool on the ending, whispers, and fumbled have-your-cake-and-eat-it approaches to certain infamous scenes. Doesn't bode well.

That's what I'm doing. If they canceled dlcs for 15 cause of poor sales cancelling an entire game due to poor sales from prequels isn't a stretch.

Besides being trapped on PS5, the main problem is that FF7R is just not a good game and it was rushed out too soon. It's just a shitty minigame collection in a largely boring open world where you occasionally get a cut scene. There's a ridiculous lack of polish like janky physics and sound bugs. They obviously had to push it out to meet the fiscal year, when it could have used another year of dev time.

I had no idea they planned to stretch it into a trilogy, I thought the plan was to make it into 2 games, given the amount of effort and time it's taken them to craft this nostalgiapiece. I don't see them doing this kind of treatment for the next in popularity FF game, FFX.

It's because people aren't happy with the game being stretched over 3 games. They lied to everyone and just labeled the first game as "FF7 Remake" while leaving out all the key details. When a lot of people finished the game, they thought "wow that sucks but it's a bit more tolerable knowing they're adding so much character development that it's going to be over 2 games". Then the other shoe dropped and they found out what was really going on. Square Enix announced they were pulling a Warner Bros and stretching out a beloved classic over 3 installments to milk it like the Hobbit while making notable changes to the story.

The "Rebirth is selling worse than Remake because it's locked on the PS5" is only partly true because it's selling massively worse than FF16 and word of mouth on Rebirth hasn't been good.

Good Final Fantasy games sell consoles. If the remake of FFVII was good, people would buy the console they need to play it.

I can't say I experienced any sound bugs, but one thing that does immediately come to mind now you mention it is that I thought the voice acting was incredibly flat this game. I'm assuming poor direction? Or maybe it is bad editing, the VA's seemed better in Remake.
It's not every character and not every scene but there are times where you're watching full on mental breakdowns and similar high-intensity conversations only for the VA to feel like they're phoning it in with incredibly monotone lines that only hint at the emotion that should be felt here. Just because they're anime cool dudes doesn't mean they need to be composed constantly.

Originally it was going to be episodic: https://www.wired.com/story/final-fantasy-vii-remake-is-episodic/ (This is from 2015 5 years before we got the first game in the trilogy)

However there was blowback to this decision before the first game came out, so director would later say it be a trilogy in big AAA packages. not continuous episodes in bite sizes.

It would have costed a lot less and made just as much to have simply made an HD FFVII with voice acting, some QOL, new enemies and items, and a new bonus dungeon or two with so challenge bosses.

Speaking of Remakes, I look forward to the inevitable RE5 Remake. Game journalists are already seething about the mere idea of shooting Africans.

I honestly wonder if Capcom will see it through and remake it properly, or will they change the general enemies. tbh I thought Res 5 was fun for what it was, and hope they keep the co-op mode in it.

Though, I think the next Resident Evil game is 9 right?

Yeah, it should be RE9 next. Unless they've had something like Code Veronica in the oven.

And yes, Baldur's Gate 3 isn't on that list because it didn't release until December 21st in Japan and Famitsu only covers retail sales (box sales and game redeem cards), not digital sales.

EDIT: I took the liberty to color group repeat games across multiple platforms.

After finishing Devil May Cry 3 on Dante Must Die a lot of things about the game become more apparent.
Like bosses being a joke if you just use a specific devil arm (Beowulf, Agni & Rudra and Rebellion)
And certain enemies being the most annoying thing known to mankind (Enigmas, Damned Queens, Soul Eaters and Abysses in mission 19)
And the worst boss of the whole series Arkham.
As for bosses being a joke you can just use Killer Bee and Rising Dragon with Beowulf, or jump cancelling Aerial Cross with Agni & Rudra and you can keep hitting some bosses with Rebellion and dodge before they hit you.
For enemies being annoying, Enigmas can hit you as fast as they see you, Damned Queens are the most durable chess piece and they can move across the whole screen with a really big hitbox, Soul Eaters are not that annoying when they are on their own but when they spawn on the same room as other enemies you can't target them, and Abysses are only annoying on mission 19 because of the infinity nirvana being a timed fight.
Arkham only becomes an issue because they take away your style and devil trigger because of Vergil being there.
Either way, good game 10/10 would recommend, and anyone that would like to play it should do very hard before going into DMD to make it more bearable.
